Hilltop RESIDENCE

Design Goal: To create vibrant and energizing spaces

This majority home redesign was completed on behalf of a young family with 2 small children looking for fresh and bright spaces to live and grow in. K&Z were excited to be involved in a project so centered around color and energy, and to have a client that allowed them free reign in the selection of textiles, patterns and hues.

Perhaps the most sophisticated room in this design is the dedicated dining room, home to beautiful deep teal chair and apple green draperies. The most defining aspect of this room, however, is the gold metallic grasscloth wallpaper adding a level of sheen and elegance to the space. The adjoining sitting room played host to gorgeous Schumaker floral print fabric selections, and many of the client’s existing pieces of artwork.

When designing spaces suitable for children, durability and sustainability are two key concepts. Designing spaces utilizing washable fabrics, stain-resistant flooring, and hardwearing furnishings is always at the core of planning, but K&Z still wanted to emulate the playfulness of childhood throughout. This was accomplished through the use of bright color and bold pattern, and fun feminine touches like the daughter’s Serena & Lily headboard.
